While the trailer and the start of this film really sell it well as an interesting film_ simply put, it wasn't. A story that can't really seem to decide how to come to a single idea or have a direct flow. Lacking middle plot, like a Boston Cream, but without the cream. A character cast that really doesn't build, or even force me to care about them. A HUGE problem with lights. Maybe a shortage on 300W bulbs. I unfortunately have to criticize this movie, than say it was worthy of a watch. The story is my second biggest guff, next to lighting and contrast. The story seems to be confused as to where it wants to go. Is it a rescue mission, is it to find a device, is it to learn about survivors? Is it to contact space. I can't seem to find out, as there are twenty storylines, and somewhere, a main one. While it somehow managed to flow together and make an ending, I felt like the start of the movie was in one hundred different places of the 1hr and 44min. Only really did it start closing up past the halfway mark. My second biggest guff is the lighting. Turn up those TVs and PC Monitors, because about 60% of the movie is unforgivably dark or out of contrast. While I understand atmosphere, this took "being there" a little to literally. Acting and environment is really all I can say that is good about this movie. I had almost not issues with the acting. Fluid, believable, and sold. Of what I could see of the environment, when it wasn't out of contrast/lighting, was well sold. Post Apocalyptic. These 3/5 star movies, I like to give a chance_ to find some real good in them. Some low star movies actually deserve better. However, The Colony, I have to say was a real let down.
