Covington, Georgia, July 1864. Desperate to escape an arranged marriage to her brutal neighbor, Willa Randall disguises herself as a boy and joins Wheeler's Division of the Confederate Cavalry. Dressed in a uniform and adapting to military life, Willa feels safer amid the threat of battle than she ever did at home. Captain Jeff Spencer believes the boy who volunteered to join his troop will be an asset and takes him on as an aide. Can Willa keep her secret from the captain she grows to love, and can she outrun the abusive Edgar Dodds, hot on her trail?
