Charles, a small-town psychologist, jumps into an icy river to thwart a watery suicide attempt. The drowning man turns out to be Danny, a former patient of his, who, at eleven years old, was sentenced to twelve years in prison based on Tom's psychological evaluation. Once Danny starts to mysteriously reappear around town Tom decides to re-investigate the case, only to find that his family is at the center of a dangerous revenge plot.
