About this movie

After almost drowning in a lake, Madison finds herself living a life of fear. Crippled by her past trauma, Madison attempts to shut out the world, but her fear of water intensifies and she is faced with a recurring vision of a dark figure that haunts her day and night. After watching her struggle for a year, Madison's four friends attempt an unconventional intervention in the form of a séance, which opens a floodgate that none of them anticipated. As Madison and her friends dive deeper into the dark history of the figure that haunts them, it reaches out and begins dragging them one by one to a horrifying place from which they can never return.

I never give reviews. I'm a horror movie fanatic. I pick random horror movies out to watch all the time and I had to stop an hour in. I just tried to finish it with 10 minutes left just to have it expire out of my collection and I stopped it again. I'm gonna start it and go jump in the shower. Just a bad story, script, and wickedly idiotic. The drownsman is not remotely scary looking or even interesting. Pass the one

The Drownsman is a great achievement in horror filmmaking. For a low budget film the makers really did a tremendous job creating a cool style and showing off some really cool ideas. Working with water is very difficult in movies and what the skilled folks at Black Fawn Films were able to pull off is technically very impressive considering their limited funds. The Drownsman himself is a super cool new horror villain and his means of attacking his victims has so much potential for all kinds of creative kills. Well worth checking out if you're tired of the same old "stalk and slash" horror bad guys.
