Another McCarthy movie falls flat. The jokes were to out there to be funny and they kept trying to mix in heavy stuff like racism, depression and other unfunny backstory that just got in the way. No one really cares about how poorly the story was written it is a comedy. What people do care about is the jokes and one liners. They were extremely weak. If you have nothing else to watch then give this a go, but otherwise watxh "Spy" if you wanna see McCarthy actually be funny.

"The Happytime Murders" isn't riveting from beginning to end, in terms of the plot, but it's concept manages some originality. These type of comedies aren't for the family in any shape or form, but it offers plenty of laughs and I have to give the writers credit for pushing the envelope.

The character design is awful, the voice acting is awful, the script is atrocious, the worldbuilding was excruciating. Melissa McCarthy and Maya Rudolph were fantastic but completely wasted here. I couldn't even enjoy this as a guilty pleasure or purely for the raunchy muppets, because the film rested on that and simply didn't try to be anything more.
