"Remember when I said I never saw an angel?... Well, I lied". Bust a gut laughing at this line as it was probably the only emotional scene in the film. Dull characters, even worse action where it's either too dark or too fast to see whats happening plus character reveals which lack any real emotional punch. Simon is a sulky idiot whose love is rejected and works his puppy dog eyes too much, a mentor whose betrayal isn't recognised by other characters - just a couple examples of poor characterization. Urgh.

At least the dialogue doesn't make you cringe. I've seen many worse movies but i've also seen lots of better ones. There were some good moments the demon dog was pretty cool and i'd be lying if i said that seeing an evil mrs frederick didn't make me jump. Worth a watch but don't expect too much

This film was amazing, but it was nowhere near as brilliant as the book. I understand that it would be difficult to film on private property on an island in the middle of the manhattan river, but that is no excuse for claiming you can summon deamons on concecrated ground, or trying to fit nearly a week into two days and cutting out one of the best scenes OR making the 'bad guy' die at the end instead of what actually happened, etc. If they had stuck to the book, I would be less infuriated.
