Award-winning actors Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Scarlett Johansson star in THE PRESTIGE, the twisting, turning story that, like all great magic tricks, stays with you. Two young, passionate magicians, Robert Angier (Jackman), a charismatic showman, and Alfred Borden (Bale), a gifted illusionist, are friends and partners until one fateful night when their biggest trick goes terribly wrong. Now the bitterest of enemies, they will stop at nothing to learn each other's secrets. As their rivalry escalates into a total obsession full of deceit and sabotage, they risk everything to become the greatest magician of all time. But nothing is as it seems, so watch closely.

After seeing Inception and Interstellar and not knowing that Memento was a Chrstopher Nolan film I was beginning to wonder if he had done anything that had a story line or if it was all just flash-bang gee-whizardry for the cerebral types who might otherwise poo-poo similar films such as The Fast and the Furious. I like Nolan's films. They are thought-provoking. But they don't follow through on the possibility they examine. I am pretty sure Memento was different. Enter The Prestige which takes all of those thoughts and provokes them while developing a story through the multiple facets of timeline, imagery, history, and pseudo-science. Really brilliant! Character depth never shallows leaving more character than one actor can really handle by the end of the show. There are no wasted moments or words and the show fits the setting. I am pleased to report, (as if it matters), that The Prestige redeems all of the other Nolan films I have watched up to this point.

My favorite movie by far. The first time I watched it I was so confused but it was so good. I've watched this movie at least 15 times, and every time it's like you find something new in the movie that you didn't notice before. It's a really complex, interesting, and original movie that I recommend to anyone and everyone if you want a break from the same old storyline in every other movie produced nowadays.

Those who say the movie is bad because of its grim storyline and lack of humor, ... (cough, cough ... Curious airlines) news flash! Life isn't always upbeat and care free! It also does not make it a bad movie! It is beautifully directed and is one of Chris Nolan's best. If you need action and humor every 15 seconds this isn't the movie for you.
