Terrible. "Die Hard 1820". Should have cast Bruce Willis instead. History on this is VERY sketchy, but this version is ridiculous. If it were not "based on a true story", it would be a 2 star film. Not worth watching, but whatever. Since it hides behind historical events, it is absolute crap. What can be pieced together of the real story would have been a much better movie. Either way, it never ended in all Bruce Willis brawl to the death. It apparently ended with both men alive to their separate ends. And from what I can tell the story happened in August/September, not the dead of winter.

WARNING: SPOILER ALERT! This biographical movie really is epic. My 2 big flaws with this movie is that the mother bear was killed by our main character. It's not the bear's fault! It was your fault for getting between a mother bear & her cubs! Respect the laws of nature!!! The ending of the movie does not stay true to the actual event, like the main protagonist killed the main antagonist, i don't think that's what really happend (i belive they wanted this true story to make it better). The acting from all the cast is very authentic, & very realistic. The CGI bear is very realistic. The cinematogrophy is beautiful & has excellent expert camera work. The story is great, but again: it almost stay's true to the true story. The action sequences keep's you on the edge of your seat. I'm not one of those people that think that this movie is the best.

Terrible movie, slow moving, could have been wrapped up in about 45 minutes. Beautiful scenery but that is not why I watch movies. Overacted by Leo. He is a great actor but certainly didn't deserve an Oscar for this performance. Don't waste your time. Actually stopped watching this movie when I got bored and convinced myself 2 days later to finish it just to see what happened.
