This is just a terrible movie. Miller has no idea what he is doing as a director, the talented cast flails with no direction and stomps around like kids in a high school play, and worst of all the movie is a total disservice to Eisner's hero, who Miller doesn't appear to understand at all. This is NOT the Spirit, this is Sin City Superhero, and if that sounds good, brother, it ain't! Instead of watching this, light some money on fire and smash yourself in the face until you can't remember the last 2 hours. 100% forgettable, awful garbage.

I generally love Frank Miller but I do not know what he was doing directing this movie. It is The Spirit meets Sin City. Both are great on their own. Together not so much. If you want to see a good modern take on The Spirit I would recommend Darwin Cooke's The Spirit book from DC that came out a few years ago. That book was fun, unlike this movie.

...since I usually dig underdog flicks that get a bad rap. But this one took the cake. Confusing film that doesn't know if it's serious or a self-parody. Bad acting, messy plot, ridiculous characters. Lots of style, just no substance.
