About this movie

1940, London, the Blitz; with the country's morale at stake, Catrin, an untried screenwriter, and a makeshift cast and crew, work under fire to make a film to lift the nation's spirits - and inspire America to join the war. A witty, romantic and moving portrayal of a young woman finding her way, and her voice, in the mayhem of war... and the movies! 2016 BRITISH BROADCASTING CORPORATION / THEIR FINEST LIMITED

A lovely little flick celebrating typewriters, writing and the power of film and strong women. Couldn't get into the book but glad to have seen this. It's major flaw was when it felt like a cigarette ad: NONE of that vile smoking seemed necessary to the story. Otherwise, it's beautifully shot, great acting, great writing; doesn't have a Disneyfied ending, but I think it's better for that. It's satisfying and leaves a thing or two for the viewer to imagine. And it WILL make you cry near the end. Very good (not enough for me to buy and watch a gazillion times, but still). Recommended.

I watched this at the cinema and it was really good! It was sad at times, but it was also funny too! Probably more of a drama than comedy. Actors were great! Its a good film to watch, when you want to watch something a little bit different.

Great movie, no huge special effects just great acting. Took me back to the old Ealing comedies. Hollywood take note, you don't need to spend gazillions to make a good movie
