When they announced Farrell, instead of another bulky action hero, I hoped they were going to make a film more faithful to the spirit of the novella by Phillip K Dick. Instead, it seems like they just wanted to rehash the original with more computer effects, as well as cash in on memes from Minority Report and I, Robot...the Will Smith thing, not the Asimov stories. The worst part was taking away Mars, and replacing it with a tunnel THROUGH THE EARTH that people commute to work through...was THAT supposed to be more believable than flying to a Martian Colony?

The movie is a pretty straight forward flick. Guy is unhappy, tries to find his way, gets answers along the way, saves the girl, rescues the city and then is happy. The screen writer felt like adding robots and lasers and explosions makes this a great movie, but it doesn't it just makes it interesting visually. Watch if you like flashy explosions and shooting with a straightforward plot that doesn't require much thinking.

Total Recall is a great movie. It has loads of action, great grapics and scenery, and one great version of how our future could actually end up. The only problem I have is that I feel the characters' connection/bond toward one another could've used more work. They needed more chemistery between each other. Less scripted, fake affection and more raw emotion.
