A professional hockey player, Bobby Barbato (Michael Keaton) makes an unexpected turn in his life when a gang of young thugs tries to rob him. Bobby manages to scare them off, but not before nabbing one of the troublemakers, Louis DeLeon (Ajay Naidu). Bobby decides to give the kid a ride home and meets his single mother, Denise (Maria Conchita Alonso). Despite their differences, Bobby begins a romance with Denise and slowly earns the respect of Louis.
