It was pretty good, no one can replace Harrison Ford as Han Solo though. There is a pretty big plot hole in this movie. If the dude with all the little horns and the red and black skin is supposed to be Darth Moll, that would place this movie 10-12 years before Luke and Leah are born, which would make Han around 50 years old by A New Hope. If you don't do the math to figure that out then it's a pretty hood movie.

I didn't see it in the theater buy just watched the Blu-ray release. It was a hair better than I thought it would be. The actor notoriously was required to take some acting lessons during filming. I didn't mind him overall but he lacked the convincing ladies man/machismo of Harrison Ford. Story had fan service foreshadowing sprinkling throughout. Story was okay. I liked Rouge One over this story. It's worth a watch though.

This movie obviously was made to be dark and depressing. Dark in every sense, many scenes are made with little illumination, which makes it appear that the special effects were cheaply made (that's one strategy used commonly, for instance in Batman movies). The story is also made to show some level of heroism based on just revolutionary violence and ends justifying the means, which is not surprising given director Howard's politics. Movie is too violent, inappropriate for small kids, which unfortunately is a main target of this Disney franchise. The comedic elements that Star Wars sometimes exploits are also very poor, mostly just sarcasm.
