One of those rare instances when the movie is better than the book, which I read many years ago and remember that despite its flashes of genius, it was actually really nasty and gross. The good things here: Chris Pratt getting face slammed with a keyboard: That's a beautiful scene that should happen in real life to that animal killer. The set pieces are visually SPECTACULAR. I would actually buy this movie but the animal use here makes me nauseous - rat bombs and pig carcasses used for target practice; since animals in real life have it bad enough (to the extent you probably don't know if you're not an abolitionist vegan activist), it's hard to watch this. Also, I'm not a big fan of profanity and there's a lot here (although here, unlike the last awful Logan movie, at least it's used properly and not because the screenwriters lacked talent). James McAvoy's American accent was a surprise but he pulls it off really well! And the whole movie rattles along at a good pace. All in all, it's a satisfying watch that I look forward to renting again when I'm in the mood for a whole lot of headshots, which sometimes, you just are, you know? (pretend ones, of course). RECOMMENDED!
