This is possibly my favorite screen adaptation of a Shakespeare play, simply because it's a heck of a lot of fun. There are movies that have been truer to the script (Branagh's Hamlet, for example), but this is a movie that can be enjoyed by a contemporary audience without having to study the play to understand its depth. It's a funny show. There are several story lines, none of which become tiresome in the least. The script is edited very well, in such a way that keeps a lot of the language that makes Shakespeare Shakespeare, but also allows the story to move along quickly. The cast does a great job too. While I never tire of watching Michelle Pfeiffer, I have to say that Ms. Flockhart is my favorite actor in this. So much of the story revolves around Helena and is even driven forward by here. Fantastically done!

My mother and I saw this in the theater and heckled it. There were 5 or 6 people in the whole theater and only one objected, it was that bad.
