Tens of thousands of soldiers are missing in action in the war in Ukraine. At the collection center in Odessa, there are so many unidentified bodies that train cars are being used to store them. Doctors and volunteers are risking their lives to recover them from the battlefields. From the Donbas front in the west of the country, the extremely high human cost—a secret for both armies—of a war of attrition that leaves entire families waiting is becoming clear.
