About this movie

From Oscar award winning writer and director Sofia Coppola, THE BLING RING tells the story of a group of teenagers obsessed with fashion and celebrity that burglarize celebrities' homes in Los Angeles. Tracking their targets' whereabouts online, they break-in and steal their designer clothes and possessions. Reflecting on the naiveté of youth and the mistakes we all make when young, amplified by today's culture of celebrity and luxury brand obsession, we see through the members of the Bling Ring temptations that almost any teenager would feel. What starts out as teenage fun spins out of control and leaves us with a sobering view of our culture today. THE BLING RING stars Emma Watson alongside incredible new talent Israel Broussard, Katie Chang, Claire Julien, and Taissa Farmiga. The film also features Leslie Mann, Gavin Rossdale, and real-life Bling Ring victim, Paris Hilton. It is based on the Vanity Fair article The Suspects Wore Louboutins by Nancy Jo Sales.

This movie had so much potential. Sofia Coppola just tries too hard to make this an artsy film. When in reality it's a fun project. She is all over the place with the characters. They never develope. And when you think they are about to develope she holds back. I didn't understand the connection between the characters. The only reason I kept watching was to find out how it ends. In the end you never find out anything new than what you already heard in the news. Horrible choice for director. Had potential.

I spent the majority of the film wondering when the action was going to pick up, but it turns out what felt like a lead up was the actual meat of the movie. Characters are not as developed as they need to be and the plot is rather monotonous throughout. It wasn't painful to watch. In fact, it was so bland that it didn't elicit any sort of emotional response. It just was. Find something else, save this for when you need to fall asleep.

This has to be the WORST movie that I have ever seen. I don't even know where to begin. Horrible acting. Horrible writing. Horrible directing. There are so many scenes that have little or nothing to do with the story and make you say WTF. Sophia Coppola really needs to go back film school. This movie is a perfect example of nepotism and how it somehow unfortunately gets you farther in the world. Save your hard earned money.
