Surprisingly very good This is one of the creepiest and disturbing movies of this genre I've seen in the last few years. The format is found footage scenario and this is not for the faint of heart. I would not let children see this movie. The story line of what happens to the family is eerily possible in the environment they are in. The acting at times seems a little hollow by one of the characters, (redneck mountain man) but he carries it enough to let the main cast carry on. The hide and seek aspect of being pursued heightens the tension and struggle after the alien reveal and done well enough to allow you to suspend your disbelief and become immersed in it. The special effects are quite good, but this movie does not rely on a lot of overdone special effects, and that is the best part of the production. but the alien reveals are done with brilliant use of shadow, light and defocus in such a way (even in broad daylight) that it's plausible and chillingly real. I watched this movie on an Emirates Airbus flight and I was still creeped out!
Dumbest Movie Ever Made. This is just another poor found footage movie. The parents are annoying in it. The characters are unlikable The actors are horrible. Everything about this movie is extremely amateurish. The story itself is terrible. Why would a kid keep recording mundane things? And does he have 1,000 camera batteries for it? Also, this takes place in the mountains of NC and none of the people are southern sounding nor are they knowledgeable about being in the wilderness. Overall this movie is annoying and I'm pretty sure any high school kid could make a movie just as good. The people who made this movies should never be allowed to be near a camera again.
Jumpscare Central OOGABOOGABOOGA VISUAL TEARING the camera getting thrown out the trash chute gets you a bonus star. That was a nice touch. Should have had more ideas like that. Sudden camera static and a skinny gray thing screaming jumping out from behind a car isn't particularly scary.
Inane As profoundly stupid as anything I've ever seen. In every possible way. A gargantuan POS. Really. And oh you can skip it on Netflix too, which is where I wasted bandwidth and time while I did something else. Total braindead crap. Great if you want something on while you vacuum.
Alien Abduction Well played! Always excited and ready to support a horror/ suspense film that isn't just Hollywood regurgitated crap. So sick of the cowards who won't take a chance of fresh and terrifying new ideas, but dump money into "re-imagining" a classic film. (Rob Zombie's Halloween excluded). Imagining? Obviously a little short on that! Great suspense builds, well-timed reveals, never hides behind flash/bang effects (ala Spielberg's Jaws). See this now!
Slow, boring and predictable. An annoying family portrayed by bad actors is chased through the woods by aliens. Oh, and there's one other character in the film, a hillbilly type straight out of central casting--flannel shirt, shotgun, drawl, truck, etc. Don't waste your money. Alien Abduction isn't scary or creepy in the least. It's just bad. And, no, not bad in a fun, B-movie way. It's just bad.
Such promise Alien Abduction starts with great promise. Especially for a film with such an unimaginative title. Unfortunately, that promise fizzles throughout the film and we are left with another movie afraid to tread new ground. Decent acting and characters. Lazy writing. Worth a watch for someone into the Alien sub genre.
Whatever I rented this movie on U-Verse and it wasn't as good as expected. I love alien movies but this one wasn't great. I think there was only a couple scenes that you actually get to see them...I suggest you don't rent or buy this. But hey, it's your money right?
WTF Why isn't it available in my country now, (NC, USA), was just a few months ago but not now WTF fix this problem since Brown Mountain is just up the road from me. I want to see this movie!!!! You'd think a movie made in Catawba, Burke and which ever other counties it was filmed in and by someone who use to visit the area in the summers, and when ever else to visit his family in Blowing Rock, NC you'd think it would be AVAILABLE in NC, USA.... I'd definitely change my rating
Love it. I never Really comment Much on Moives. I have to say this moive is definitely worth a watch . I seen it in Netflix and it would be worth 5 bucks on here too. It Honestly is a good scary moive. It is so Creepy. The only thing I dislike about the moive is I wished it was longer..
Great movie the redneck seals it all in but the lack of mobility by the camera operator makes this movie cringe worthy due to the camera operator Rileys inability to think fast and Stay focused causes everyone to be hunted down one by one
Decent rental I saw and read the reviews, watched the trailer. So I decided to rent it. The acting was solid, the story kept me interested. By the end of the movie I just wasn't i satisfied with the overall experience. Check it out, but I wouldn't highly recommend it.
Good low budget horror flick. (Spoiler Alert) I was fairly impressed with this film. As others have said, more footage from inside the alien craft would have made the film better. Also, I don't understand why the actors keep running when there was a perfectly good hiding spot inside the Redneck's cabin.
