About this movie

The Boy is a frightening thrill ride directed by William Brent Bell (The Devil Inside) and starring Lauren Cohan ("The Walking Dead"). Greta (Lauren Cohan) is a young American woman who takes a job as a nanny in a remote English village. She soon discovers that the family's 8-year-old is a life-sized doll that they care for just like a real boy, as a way to cope with the death of their son 20 years prior. After violating a list of strict rules, a series of disturbing and inexplicable events bring Greta's worst nightmare to life, leading her to believe that the doll is actually alive. Pretty good! Up until the last 20-30 minutes I was trying to guess who/what/which spirit was making "Brahams" come to life. I especially got spooked by the middle parts when she was alone with The Boy. Not for everyone I guess but I really liked this movie, it's different than what I thought (I thought it was an English version of Spanish horror film Fur Elise).

Why oh why do I keep holding onto hope that Hollywood can churn out a decent, genuinely scary thriller/horror flick that isn't riddled with cliche after cliche? The characters seem to be of sound mind but the decisions made baffle me. What started off as promise turned into another slapstick disaster of the 'possessed doll but not really' kind. Toss it.

Very Suspenseful! I actually like that they took time to create the characters! I didn't expect the ending it had but it was sad! I think it was more a psychological thriller! Think Hide n Seek style where what you think is reality, actually isn't! I really like movies where you have to think and it brings your mind into new heights & makes you rethink every move to lead up to the ending! Psychological horror movies are better than straight up blood n guts unless you have too short an attention span or you don't like having to think through character & plot! Of course, I am a writer so I guess that's my favorite thing to do to get my mind spinning!! Haha!!!
