The structure was completely formulaic and predictable, the fighting sequences made no sense, the technical points were illogical to say the least. When creating a sci-fi world, one has to pay attention to the science, as well as the fiction. The idea that people can forget a robot has a magic sword that kills enemies 10 times more efficiently than a plasma cannon is just stupid

No world building or buildup to introduction to beasts. No chemistry between main characters. Drift compatibility made no sense whatsoever. Mains staring at each other for no apparent dramatic reason. Mechs are able to kill kaiju with simply shooting missiles at them but for some reason they are losing war. Nothing really thrilling or intense in the battles. Just run of the mill machines hitting monsters. Monsters ripping apart machines. Yawn.... All around nothing memorable or worth second viewing.

I went into this movie expecting huge robots fighting monsters. In that area this move did not let down. The fighting was amazing and entertaining. Everything else though was sub par. The characters didn't hook me and I didn't feel emotionally attached. The death of a named character was equivalent to that of the random background characters. People were brought in and we were expected to like them on that alone. They tried to put too many elements into the move and in to short of a time. It felt like combining all the lord of the ring movies into one. I would be interested in an prequel, sequel or retelling!!!! The universe that this movie lives in is one I would like to see again.
