A massive alien presence of enormous power enters Federation space destroying three powerful Klingon cruisers and neutralizing everything in its path. As it heads towards Earth, Admiral James T. Kirk returns to the helm of an updated U.S.S. Enterprise and sets course to meet the aggressor head-on.

Ratings and reviews

Despite a slow jogging pace, leading to a boring first half, the story starts to pick up in the second half. The Visual Effects look great but they overshadow the rest of the movie. The lack of action & characterizations may be odd at first but these aspects suited the film.

One of the pioneers of SciFi, if not the BEST!

ผมคิดว่าหนังเรื่องนี้มันเดินเรื่องช้ามากแต่ก็เพื่อให้เราดื่มดำบรรยากาศของอวกาศที่พยายามสร้างขึ้นโดยการใช้ CG ที่ยิ่งใหญ่ (ที่ดูตอนนี้ขัดตามาก) ในด้านของเพลง ก็มีทุกแนวเรียกว่าติดหูไปพักใหญ่เลย ถ้าใครตามเห็นฉากยานรบสู้กัน ก็คงผิดหวังอยู่ ถึงอย่างงั้น การได้เห็นตัวละครที่เราคุ้นเคยมารวมตัวกัน ผจญภัยไปในอวกาศอีกครั้ง ก็ยังสนุกเหมือนเดิม ตัวละครหลักทุกคนมีเสน์ห์ แบกหนังทั้งเรื่องได้เลย ถึงจะมีบทกับนักแสดงที่ดีแต่ผมว่าหนังมันยืดยาวเกินไปจริงๆ ถ้ามีความยาวประมาณ 1 ชั่วโมงครึ่ง คงกำลังพอดีเลย ถ้าเรามองเรื่องนี้เป็นหนังรักที่มีความเป็น sci fi เข้ามาเกี่ยวข้องก็พอเข้าใจได้อยู่
