About this movie

Its name: EVENT HORIZON. The high-tech, pioneering research spacecraft mysteriously vanished, without a trace, on its maiden voyage seven years earlier. But a weak, persistent signal form the long-missing craft prompts a rescue team, headed by the intrepid Captain Miller (Laurence Fishburne, THE MATRIX and MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE III), to wing its way through the galaxy on a bold rescue mission. Accompanying Miller is his elite crew and the lost shipメs designer (Sam Neill, JURASSIC PARK), their mission is to find and salvage the state-of-the-art interstellar horror. Back to electrify-and terrify-is EVENT HORIZON, now as a two-disc Special Collection DVD that contains never-before-seen special features, including a five-part documentary on the making of this unforgettable motion picture. Kathleen Quinlan (APOLLO 13) and Joely Richardson (TVメs NIP/TUCK) also star in this gripping sci-fi thriller.

Since the film is from the 90's there is some clichés that are okay. But the dialogue tells more than it shows (show don't tell). Some parts are just delusional (like with the guy who imitates Iron Man but is in space). The horror aspects aren't that intense as people make them out to be. The ending is such a let down. I was hoping for some climatic stuff to happen and get to see Hell, but it turned out the climax already happened, and we get an ending that is non-fullfilling.

I can't believe I wasted time and money on this movie. What a waist of good talent on a C grade plot. You can tell they produced this as a favor or payback. There is no point, no ending, no statement or commentary ... totally pointless! The actors did the best they could in squeeze a lemon drop of drama to this train wreck. Hours of my life I will never get back.

I gave it one star not because it isn't scary, but because it is TOO scary. I bought the DVD, watched it one time, threw the DVD away. I knew there was no way I could bring myself to watch it again. Maybe it won't have that effect on everyone, but it did on me. Good acting and dialogue and absolutely nightmarish plot. Enjoy it if you like years of therapy.
