Top 3 Bond film all time From the action to the characters, Skyfall delivers on all cylinders. The more literal viewers may get let down by typical action movie tropes. Overall , however, there is more hearty in this Bond than most.
It's been a long time since I enjoyed a Bond movie so much.
'Quantum of Solace,' was a dour, dire letdown. This picture's a substantial bounce back, and easily the best Craig Bond picture. Emotional depth and all.
Sam Mendes' 'Skyfall': sleek, slithery, sensual
The cool accomplishment of Skyfall, 23rd in the Broccoli franchise, is that it seems a necessary, rather than mandatory, addition to the year's popular culture.
Among the most ambitious imaginings of Bond to date: dark, supple, and punctuated with moments of unanticipated visual brilliance.
Mendes' approach to action is classical and elegant - no manic editing and blurry unintelligible images here - but what makes the movie special is the attention he pays his actors.
It's been a long time since I enjoyed a Bond movie so much.
Die Bond Die First I would like to say I was not a fan of the first two Bond movies. To put them in order I would actually say for this Bond it's Been 3 2 1. I found that this story really goes back to the Bond roots. With all the classic concepts and props to go with it. The movie has intense action and a fast pace with easy to follow story. Unlike Casino Royal, where you really feel the 2 1/2 hours, this movie flys by. When it's over you get that classic Bond feeling of closure but know that more is on the way.
Good visuals, weak story The plot seems to be filled with episodes which are clearly supposed to bring depth to the story and yet are underdeveloped and lead nowhere. Rich visuals compensate somewhat, but not completely. Furthermore, for anyone in the programming profession, there is enough computing nonsense to seal a rather unfavorable impression.
Double O 7 Good to see back your favorite spy on action! The movie is good and action packed. A bit exaggerated for my taste, but I understand it's an action movie so it's supposed to be like that. Anyway give it a chance it's entertaining.
Best Bond in quite a while The series has gotten lackluster the last few installments. I am a fan of Daniel Craig but he had yet to bring me what I was looking for in a bond. This movie changed it entirely. I overall enjoyed this film. I was expecting a disappointment and I was amazing this was a epic film in my opinion. The characters are deep and the acting is excellent in my opinion. Probably my favorite film of 2012 and perhaps the decade so far. I recommend
Worth watching, but... This is a good movie but for me it isn't Bond. Connery and Moore are the two best Bonds, in that order. The old Bond movies had a touch of humor and showed refinement. Like when Connery was able to taste some wine and guess the year it was bottled. It's those little things that make it a 007 movie. Where's the cocky confidence? This Bond never smiles. If this wasn't a Bond film I'd give it a 4. It's a good movie but it lacks the details that make a James Bond film.
Easily the best Bond film during Craig's Era. Casino Royale was far too dull for me, and Spectre much too predictable. Personally I liked this one the best and the action does not dissapoint. Craig is entertaining as Bond and Olga Kurylenko is really easy on the eyes. Overall a must see that's worth buying.
I remember watching 007 movies with my father when I was very young. Dad liked them, I liked them, but they were cheesy and far fetched. The last three films with Daniel Craig have been nothing like the 007 films of the 70's, 80's, or 90's. These are bona-fide action thrillers with believable stories and EXCELLENT acting. WATCH IT. LOVE IT!
Best Bond Fans familiar with the Bond franchise will see enough clever and well-placed nods to the Bond films of old to keep them fangirling through the entire movie (i know i was.), and newcomers have a treat as well with a spectacular cast that works well together, and a refreshing, well written story that makes this quite possibly the best Bond film ever. My new favorite..
Craig truly arrives as the Spy Everybody Loves A spectacular "return to form" for the character of James Bond. Chock full of nuances and homages to the old stories and series (without being pedantic), this one simultaneously goes in the new directions we've come to expect from Daniel Craig playing the role. The old and new collide as Bond truly resurrects himself in the "brave new world" presented by today's technology and crises. Highly recommended.
Simply one of the best From the bond catalog i would say this will rank #3 behind Dr No and Goldfinger, but above Casino Royale... Sam Mendes (director) and Roger Deakins (cinematography) are a perfect duo infusing their own touch but keeping what all bond fans love from our suave spy. Gorgeous to look, action to boot, and one of the most devilishly sweet evils (bardem)... Daniel Craig surely is staking his claim why he is #2 bond of all time (sorry, but connery still the one)
Barely passable for me "Bond girls" average around 48 years of age when one counts Dame Judi Dench. She is a serious actress, but this is not Oedipus Rex. The other two female leads, Marlohe in particular, make neither memorable characters nor, oddly enough, eye candy. The final smash-em-up is a low-stakes local affair, however noisy. Plot holes usually would not matter in a Bond film, but this one seems to pass itself as a part-time psychodrama, so incoherence rankles. Some decently choreographed fighting early on. Locations are ho-hum. Craig is a charmless Bond. Bardem is a good villain, but that is not enough.
Remarkably appalling Skyfall is truly an awful film, and a tremendously disappointing deviation from what the new James Bond movies were shaping up to be. I'm not suggesting that the first two films in this new generation demonstrate artistic genius, of course, but they are certainly several orders of magnitude better in every conceivable way than this latest atrocity. The theme of old (the "old way" as well as the physically old characters) beleaguered by new feels contrived and awkwardly permeates the entire film.
So far the best, But it says own?! A+ definitely a classic! Great acting, production value, soundtrack! Best James Bond movie I have seen period! But why can't I own it? Renting is not owning the last time I checked! Saw it @ The theater that's the reason 4 the 5 stars! Very misleading!!!
Extremely satisfying entry in the James Bond film series, perhaps the best 007 film starring Daniel Craig, perhaps the best 007 film to date. Celebrating fifty years of James Bond, with 'Doctor No' having been released in 1962, 'Skyfall' explores a number of themes which help to both root the James Bond Series in the real world and also to satisfy fans of the series who may appreciate its more humorous turns with Roger Moore or with Sean Connery. There were two simple things that 'Skyfall' achieved that I loved the most, two things I'd never thought I'd see from a Bond film; one, the film is shot beautifully. The scenes with 007 stalking a sniper in a colorfully lit Singapore or set in the remote highlands of Bond's birthplace in Scotland give the world a sense of depth and of openness that had been all too absent in previous 007 films. Two, we meet a much more vulnerable and human James Bond, one who is wounded by gunfire (twice) in this film for the first time since 'Thunderball' and one who is slowly beginning to succumb to the weaknesses of old age. The film even explores Bond's childhood in visiting his birthplace in Scotland and exploring the deaths of his parents.
The best Bond movie Ever! I will make this short but to the point. This is Daniel Craig's 3rd Bond movie and he just gets better and better. Great plot, great action, great Bond and great movie. Best Bond movie hands down!!
OO7 at his best! After a nearly 4 year layoff james bond returns in arguably his best. Craig plays Bond the way Fleming intended but with a touch of dry wit this go around. The film looks beautiful in every scene & the action is 1st rate. Also the story, villain, & "Bond" girls are top notch! The perfect OO7 film!
Great End To A Good Beginning? I was very hesitant, I was not a fan of Daniel Craig only because I grew up on the last films. Quantum and Casino I think were still bad but What A great ending to someone we Loved. I hope Craig continues to do better in his next Bond films!
One of the best Can't decide whether I like Skyfall or casino royale better. Skyfall has such an excellent villain. Love all the Bond films and especially the Craig ones. Skyfall truly is one of the best of all the movies
The Best Bond Film Yet! This is the best James Bond movie ever made! It is even better than Casino Royale! Daniel Craig is the best Bond ever and Javier Bardem does an amazing job at playing the villain.
Jumped the Shark What are people thinking? The first two films were so much better than this dud. Predictable, cliche, cheesy ( the Komodo Dragon sequence, cmon). It was almost a direct rip-off of the Dark Knight and the sheer amount of awful stupidity is too much to explain here. What a let down!
Poohole antics My nomenclature is Bond, James Bond, licence to drive a HGV and a Counterbalance Forklift Truck. I also have my SIA badge so I'm licenced to do undercover shoplifting work at your local Aldi for minimum wage. Schniff my finger Mish Funnyfanny.
Top 5 best Bond of all time Best story of the current franchise, IMO. Great, and I mean GREAT plot, fantastic directing, action that builds the story, not just filled out screen time. Worth every second of your life to watch.
Amazing! Altulough craig isnt the best bond (in my opinion) this is the best bond film due its complex character portrayals (notably javier bardem's villain) rather than stereotypical russian/communist antagonists. Showing how the job effects Bond has never been seen before (he always seems to escape unscathed with some little jest being said before such an action), so I look forward to Bond 23!
Simply amazing By far and away the best of the Bond films, but also one of the greatest action movies in my opinion. The story is fantastic, the action scenes are brilliant. Even if you don't like Bond films, this is a must see.
Digital only works if it is allowed to! Own the new Bond? To bad I can only rent it... stupid MPAA or the likes probably will only let Google rent it for a set period of time so they can force people to buy hard copies.
Amazing By far 1 of the best James Bond movies ever if not the best, instead of constantly shooting and jumping a 50 story building there's actually a beautiful plot and great better acting with lots of twists , thanks for making such a great film.
Spectacular effects and good story This is definitely a transitional Bond film and some interesting new characters are introduced. Excellent chase scenes, fun gadgets, intrigue and an unusual villain. I really enjoyed it, but it is vety much new Bond...
Back to the Basics Definitely have to say that this is the best of the "current" Bonds. Over the top everything, as usual with a Bond movie. Not as many exotic locales, exotic Bond girls, or a super diabolical villain, still, the best Bond I've seen in many, many years. It's nice to see it retooled for a new generation, while still holding true to the originals.
One of the best. You can never go wrong with a Bond movie. I'm surprised that some found the supposed "gay" scene uncomfortable. It really wasn't a surprise. I mean the guy seemed like that sort so. Anyway, back to point. Great movie it lived up to expectations. But uh, can we buy it at some point?
One of the best Bond movies... Not the best, but one of the best. And definitely one of my favorites. A step up from the previous movie, this one at the same time brings the Daniel Craig "reboot" full circle to where the series started, while making spy movies relevant in this digital age.
