About this movie

The classic story of loyalty, trust, and sacrifice comes to life in this live-action adaptation. Fern (Dakota Fanning) is one of only two living beings who sees that Wilbur is a special animal as she raises him, the runt of the litter, into a terrific and radiant pig. As Wilbur moves into a new barn, he begins a second profound friendship with the most unlikely of creatures -- a spider named Charlotte -- and their bond inspires the animals around them to come together as a family. When the word gets out that Wilbur's days are numbered, it seems that only a miracle will save his life. A determined Charlotte -- who sees miracles in the ordinary -- spins words into her web in an effort to convince the farmer that Wilbur is "some pig" and worth saving.

My negative review has nothing to do with the quality of the story, or its production value. I viscerally hate it on principle; it's a subconscious knee-jerk revulsion at this point. Every time a "new adaptation" comes out and has its surge of popularity, everybody and their mothers think it's "clever" to make pig or spider jokes at me when they hear my last name. I loathe E.B. White's psychotic, opportunistic, manipulative little spider and her cluess hog partner/mark/victim.

Charlotte's Web is an amazing story that will move other people's hearts. Friendship, kindness, and caring makes this a fantastic book and movie. Everyone should at least see this movie once. People then will want to watch over and over again. The story itself is a miracle. Four words I could describe this story is awesome, phenomenal, wonderful, and incredible. Charlotte's Web will bring tears to your eyes. Your tears will not be lugubrious tears, but joyful and happy ones. The movie could even bring a change to the world. Everyone will be a bit more nice and caring to each other. Friendship will become more important in life (although it is already). I will have to rate this movie 100/5 stars.

I am a grandmother of 2 little boys, 8 and 6. We watch all kinds of movies together, but this happens to be an all time favorite of ours. I like it just as much as they do. They are fixated on it while it is on. It has it's sad moments, happy, laughing. and even a few tears shed. I recommend this to all. If you have small children or grandchildren, this is a movie to watch together. We have, time and time again and have never got bored of it yet. Rent it, buy it, and snuggle up with your little ones and have a great night with this movie.
