About this movie

This sinfully funny movie starring Academy Award® winner Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway is sensationally entertaining in every way. As assistant to impossibly demanding New York fashion magazine editor Miranda Priestly (Streep), young Andy Sachs (Hathaway) has landed a job that "a million girls would die for." Unfortunately, her heaven-sent appointment as Miranda's personal whipping girl just might be the death of her! The Devil Wears Prada is based on the internationally best-selling novel by Lauren Weisberger, which spent six months on the New York Times bestseller list and was translated into 27 languages.

A heartfelt movie that has the LAST TEN MINUTES sending a good message. I understand that this movie did not age well, but the constant fat shaming of a size six made me want to scream. Sure, this was made back when I was young and treating women like objects was okay, but as a person with an eating disorder this movie is majorly triggering. Please watch with the intention of knowing times are better now, and teach your kids these things are wrong if you expose them to this content.

But I did watch it a few years back when it came out and it sucked then. I'm pretty sure it still does. Its pretty much about this stupid broad that that finds happiness in materialism and cheating on her boyfriend then at the end she chooses the finer more material things in life(of course she would). Ann Hathaway looks very boostable however and Meryl Streep looks like.... well... a Streep.. which sounds like something that doesn't look very good. Don't watch if you value your time at all.

It's a cute movie if you've never read the book. If you have, and you're like me, then you'll be disappointed with how different it is from the book. How many points I found to be key they changed that actually would have made it a funnier movie had they left it the way it was. I also didn't care for how the vilified Andy with her Paris affair that was initiated (of course) by her since women are so often the pursuers on film. No affair takes place in the book. There is no soft side shown by her psycho boss. They don't see each other ever again at the end! Nonsense! All made up to give it cutsey sappy happily ever after ending. Also love how in the book it comes across that her boyfriend (school teacher not cook) is a bit over bearing with guilt trips never shown on film. This is why I give 3 stars. it is cute and done well but why chop such a huge hit selling book so much?? I understand editing to make it fit into a movie but I have yet to see the need to totally change around timelines and perspectives.
