This movie wasn't as bad as I expected. It's decent, but not great. What really stands out more than anything is its great sense of style from the art direction to the CGI to the costume designs. Stylistically, they took everything that was creative and unique about the look of the original and made it a hundred times better. Unfortunately, it is true to the original in that everything else in the movie ranged from competent to above average, and the sequel gets no bonus points for being one of the first movies to use cyberspace as a setting as the original did.

As someone who saw the original back in '82, played the arcade game countless times, played TRON 2.0, and who LOVED Tron:Uprising, for the most part, I was pretty pleased. Saw this when it originally hit theaters on 12/17/10 - and while I love the references to the original, I think Kosinski was rushing to get this film made. The look was cool (it looks different, because this film takes place inside Flynn ' s private server, and not the ENCOM 511), & the music is awesome. Looking fwd to TR3N!!!!

For fans of: THE ROOM, THE FIFTH ELEMENT, THE BIG LEBOWSKI Sure, Disney is billing this as a family-friendly sci-fi-action-tech-thriller but it's so much more than that. It's one of those movies where its awfully scripted rejoinders accumulate into a Becket-like universe where you really can't tell if Jeff Bridges took this seriously, like, at all, man. Based on the jet-puff dialogue among the other characters (who are supposed to be computer programs anyway so maybe this is just authentic quasi-documentarianism?) it's hard to tell if the writers were either just really stoned or the producers experimented with replacing human writers with robots (plausible and thematically consistent). Either way, if you're someone who loves awful films and you're either very patient or very stoned, you will love this movie. But that's just like, my opinion, man.
