Will Ferrell could have done a better job with this honestly. I can't believe how kids can fall under the illusion that Santa is real and all of the other lies parents would show to their kids. This movie is just a really boring, not funny waste of my life. Home Alone and Die Hard and Rudolf and we can throw the Grinch in their as real Christmas movies, but elf should not even be counted. I don't know how adults can even watch and survive the stupidity and dullness of a movie like this. Terrible

My wife _LOVES_ Christmas and all of the Christmas movies, so we end up watching several of them over and over every December. I really like Bob Newhart, James Caan and Zooey Deschanel, but Will Ferrell was super annoying. Peter Dinklage makes a brief appearance as well and is splendid once again. I felt like strangling Buddy for most of the movie, though I did like his Christmas display he made. There are some decent quotes, and Deschanel has a nice singing voice, so there is at least something look forward to, but it's not something I would choose to watch myself.

I'll never know whether this movie is any good because it won't play on my Samsung S4 phone beyond the first few seconds, despite trying a dozen times and "purchasing" this movie three times with my credit card. I even let the movie download completely to my phone but it still won't play. Thank you for the free education though, because this way I know not to try to purchase movies on my phone for real money.
