I love Johnny Depp. Roman Polanski is a great director. This is rubbish. So the book investigator guy doesn't appear to be a bit surprised by the multiple mysterious deaths? Not even mild surprise? Just boring. Mind numbingly dull. Oh and if it was supposed to be scary, I really hope it wasn't... I was actually embarrassed by the ending.

A very underrated picture for most involved, including Johnny Depp (when IS he appreciated for his work?) and director Polanski. A very dark, disturbing, and intriguing atmosphere of mystery, forbidden knowledge, and the supernatural. Great stuff.

I'm unable to activate the subtitles on this movie despite having downloaded it twice, and the volume seems excessively low even when on the highest setting. The actors engage in a lot of quietly spoken dialog and whispering, so it's frustrating and disappointing.
