After his wife discovers the bracelet he's purchased for chorus girl Sheila Winthrop (Rita Hayworth), theater producer Martin Courtland (Robert Benchley) covers his tracks by claiming he bought it for his choreographer, Bob Curtis (Fred Astaire) to give to her instead. Bob agrees to go along with the ruse, but is soon drafted and shipped out to a base where Sheila's boyfriend just so happens to be stationed, too. However, when a decline in his business prompts Courtland to move his company to the base, too, Bob agrees to mount a new show - if Sheila plays the lead. And once she agrees, Bob stages a wedding scene with a real justice to marry him and Sheila. © 1941, renewed 1969 Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
