About this movie

It takes a feature-length film to fully capture Homer Simpson's epic stupidity. After 18 seasons, 400 episodes, and 23 Emmys, The Simpsons has become a feature-length motion picture based on the hit TV series. In the eagerly-awaited film, Homer must save the world from a catastrophe he himself created. It all begins with Homer, his new pet pig, and a leaky silo full of droppings - a combination that triggers a disaster the likes of which Springfield has never experienced. As the fates of Springfield and the world hang in the balance, Homer embarks on a personal odyssey of redemption - seeking forgiveness from Marge, the reunion of his splintered family, and the salvation of his hometown.

The Simpsons Movie successfully brings the beloved TV series to the big screen with a faithful and earnest approach. The film feels like a cinematic extension of the show, maintaining its signature humor and charm. While some elements may become slightly overwhelming upon repeated viewings, it remains an enjoyable and well-produced movie. A solid four out of five stars.

This movie was ten years too late. As a result, the movie is dull, the jokes forgettable, and the plot...I don't even remember. Had it been done in 1996 when the show actually had joke writers it would have been a different story. Only the diehard fans will love this. Skip this and instead go watch 5 episodes from Season 6.

'The Simpsons Movie' is a bit of an oddity compared to the series. There's much more reliance on slap-stick comedy with a few smart jokes sprinkled in. Really I think the whole point of this film was to serve as a environmental warning with a realistic depiction of how we won't care about our habitat until it's too late; then we're stuck (like those in the dome) with the consequences of our actions. While this could've been PG, there is nudity, a swear word, homosexuality, and a suicide. 🤷‍♂️
