About this movie

This comedic musical vision of contemporary life marks the directorial debut of Talking Heads leader David Byrne ("Stop Making Sense"). Written by Byrne and Pulitzer Prize-winner Beth Henley ("Crimes of the Heart"), this film looks at everyday life and the unique qualities which make ordinary people special. Based on Byrne's collection of human interest pieces taken from tabloid newspapers, and starring multi-Emmy nominees John Goodman ("The Flintstones," "Roseanne") and Swoosie Kurtz (TV's "Sisters"). The music video "Wild Wild Life," performed by the Talking Heads, is available for promotion. MPAA Rating: PG (c) 1986 A Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. All Rights Reserved

Gorgeous, warm, and cheerfully strange, this is a movie that could only have come from the mind of David Byrne. Unfortunately, this transfer doesn't really do it justice; the print shows a significant amount of dirt, the ratio is too narrow, and the edges of the frame suffer from frequent bleeding and fading.

Very quirky, like only David Byrne could do. Love the music, too bad the sound track didn't use the original singers.

In it's own weird way, this is the most realistic depiction of life in a small town I've ever seen
