About this movie

From the writer of Training Day comes a gripping, action-packed cop drama starring Academy Award-nominee Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pe̱a. In their mission to abide by their oath to serve and protect, Officers Brian Taylor (Jake Gyllenhaal) and Mike Zavala (Michael Pe̱a) have formed a powerful brotherhood to ensure they both go home at the end of watch. But nothing can prepare them for the violent backlash that happens after they pull over the members of a notorious drug cartel for a routine traffic stop. Seen from the point of view of the officers, gang members, surveillance cameras, dash cams and citizens caught in the line of fire, a 360 perspective creates a gritty, compassionate and intense portrait of the city's darkest streets, and the brave men and women patrolling them.

I'm not normally big on cop movies but this one looked intriguing so I gave it a try. Good choice! It's quite good. The plot is reasonable, the actors do a fine job and it moves along at a good clip. Michael Pe̱a does an outstanding job as Mike Zavala. There are a couple of minutes of slow going with character development that could have been dropped but all in all, a well made, well thought out and well executed effort. I'd recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good action movie.

I'm not even a cop I live on the east coast and the city cops here are so board that for a routine traffic stop after they pull some over they won't even get out of the car till back up arrives now are troopers they have balls. There aren't cartels like on the west coast so these cops on the east coast have no idea how bad they have it over there and I hope that the cops watch this and start maning up. I my self would respect the cops on the west coast. '

A must see! The pure, raw, cold, hardness of this film is profoundly entertaining, and has an in-your-face feel that's extremely rare in modern films. It's a movie that will leave you feeling emotionally drained, in a good way. Some scenes felt so real, it was hard not to turn it off, but the anticipation of seeing what would happen next holds your attention, and doesn't let you down in the end. From beginning to end it draws you in, keeps you there, and makes you part of the action. You will laugh, you will cry, and you will experience anger toward the "bad guys" that you would not think possible. Great Movie!
