Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) è un genio matematico che ha maggiore affinità con i numeri che con le persone. Dietro la copertura di uno studio contabile in una piccola città, svolge l’attività di commercialista freelance per le più pericolose organizzazioni criminali del mondo. Sentendosi braccato dalla Divisione anticrimine del Dipartimento del Tesoro, diretta da Ray King (J.K. Simmons), Christian decide di lavorare con un cliente lecito: una società di robotica d’avanguardia dove la contabile (Anna Kendrick) ha scoperto una discrepanza di milioni di dollari. Una miscela di temi fatta di intrigo e suspence che si sviluppa gradualmente. Ben Affleck recita magnificamente. Una visione su una tematica (come quella dell'autismo) che ci fa scoprire come è possibile superare i propri limiti e come si può arrivare laddove molti fanno fatica.

As a psychologist, I realize Hollywood has a habit of exaggerating the extent to which mental health and developmental issues control and effect individual outcomes. I realize this is the point of entertainment, however, I found the way in which the movie Accountant portrayed individuals with autism as disturbing and very misleading. The producers had the opportunity to portray a very misunderstood disorder in a way that could have helped people understand the experiences these individuals have but fail short of even coming close. While I applaud the notion, where they made two individuals who have autism the heroes in the end, the path to heroism is very misleading. There are really two ideas presented in the film that I take issue with: (1) representing individuals with autism as cold and calculating individuals who are devoid of being able to experience or understand emotional states. The issue with autism is not that they do not experience their emotional and physical world; the problem is they over experience it. Individuals who do not have autism are able to focus and attend on the stimuli they choose, and subconsciously scan any other stimuli that maybe important. Individua

Mi sembra che abbia una trama originale, un film molto buono, mai noioso; gli aspetti della vita del protagonista, sia con i problemi autistici che con l'educazione militare del padre più il rapporto anaffettivo con la madre, servono ad incorniciare bene il personaggio; inoltre il suo incontro con un altro contabile in prigione che lo istruisce a dovere rendono chiaro tutti i suoi comportamenti futuri.
