If I had five words to describe this movie, I would say "boring and too slow paced". The kid characters were interesting, but the pacing of this film didn't give them any time to develop their character. I wouldn't really recommend this movie unless you are trying to put yourself to sleep. While the trailers did catch my interest, it failed to live up to mine (if not everyone's) expectations. I won't criticize anyone who do enjoy this film because if you do, good for you

Martin Scorcese, director behind films like casino and goodfellas, has finally made a kid-appropriate film. And a stellar one, at that. It may be a little slow, but that doesn't matter. It's beautiful and fun to watch. This is a tribute to how amazing Martin Scorsese is, and like I said earlier, a stellar tribute. Scorsese has tried to give us an amazing, well-acted performance. Go, Scorcese! Four stars!

Scorsese made this move for himself. It's an homage to how great a director he is and the pioneering vision of Lumiere. In the meantime, he forgot to make a watchable movie. Even the people who liked this movie admit it's slow. If you fail to get hooked into "sense of wonder" movies, and you don't find slient films or movies about orphans endearing, then you will turn this piece of garbage off halfway through like I did. I thought much more hightly of Scorsese before I saw this one.
