About this movie

Nicole Kidman and director Werner Herzog bring to life the extraordinary true story of a trailblazing woman who found freedom in the faraway world of the Middle East. Gertrude Bell (Kidman) chafes against the stifling rigidity of life in turn-of-the-century England, leaving it behind for a chance to travel to Tehran. So begins her lifelong adventure across the Arab world, a journey marked by danger, a passionate affair with a British officer (James Franco), and an encounter with the legendary T.E. Lawrence (Robert Pattinson). Stunningly shot on location in Morocco and Jordan, Queen of the Desert reveals how an ahead-of-her-time woman shaped the course of history.

Stunning revelation. Werner Herzog could and did make a hideous movie. I had to watch Out of Africa to get this awfulness out of my head. Both Nicole Kidman and her character Gertrude Bell deserved much better. Proof that being promised famous talent does not mean a film will be any good at all. Such a waste of time.

I thought the movie was outstanding. Its nice to see something different for a change. The nomatic life isn't for everyone but I get her need to break from a traditional family role.

Breathtaking...I missed the first hour, nonetheless I was immediately frozen by the scenery of the desert, and of course by Nicole's beauty...A must see movie.
