Jeff Beck continues to be the ground breaking guitarist who reinvents himself with every new album, and every note that he plays sounds like a pantheon of Greek Gods signed off on it first. The most inspiring guitarist of the 20th/21st century who never stops to question what he's doing, he just does it perfect the first time (like the genius he's always been). You would think an album that uses a loud hailer as an integral "instrument" sounds gimmicky, but it registers as a clarion call for the future world we now live in. The real Loud Hailer is Jeff Beck's guitar, always ringing above the din, never mistakable, always grabbing the listener by the gut, and heart. I love the tracks that he thickens up his sound with the octavia, and the vocals have just the perfect touch of rock & rant, this is the right album & the right time, not his best, but certainly good enough to embrace as part of Beck's evolution as an artist.
Astonishing! Some of his albums, while always brilliant, are less accessible than others. Guess that's what happens when you're always exploring new territory. This'll get you up outta your chair!
Loud hailer!! Jeff Beck rocks us once again!! All hail Jeff Beck!
Wow And he's how old!? Damn.
Jeff is a true guitar legend. He's always exploring new sounds and this album is no exception.
