Aes is back!!!!! His lyrics are the dopest....his flow is the sickest....he is hands down the best rapper on the planet. One of his songs contain more words than most rappers whole albums. When is the last time you heard the words "reciprocity" and "perpendicular" in a rap song? Never ...thats when. Aesop Rock is a genius! Print off the lyrics...have a read along while you listen to this album...and get your mind blown!!
Been looking forward to this... Its been far too long since the last Aesop Rock solo album. The Hail Marry Mallon album was great (seriously can we get another??) as well as all of Aesop's numerous guest appearances. but I have been wondering if/when another solo might come. This album is fun, irreverent, dark, twisted and seriously empathetic. Definitely listen end to end then a few more times and you still won't get all the multilayered references and metaphors, but isnt' that why we like Aes so much? The way this guy plays with language....wow. This is the first album I believe where Blockhead wasn't the head producer, which is disappointing as a long time fan of both. But it is great to hear Aesop playing with new forms.
Aesop on top form Can't get enough of this Cat. So friggin happy when this album came out. I'm always looking for more of Aeses unique blend of poetry, madness and metaphors. Plenty of other great MC's out there have a similar style, but Aesops voice, delivery and imagination put him at the top of that list for me. This album has confirmed that I will be a fan for life. As long as he keeps experimenting and spits pictures out of his mouth, in that insane "I just swallowed a thesaurus!" way that he does, I will be here, eagerly waiting, ready to catch whatever he drops. [ "Roving packs of elusive young become, Choke-lore writers over boosted drums, In the terrifying face of a future tongue, Down, down from a huntable surplus to one." ] Seriously. Aesop is ill.
Show some Android love @aesoprockwins He's been pimping that iTunes crap all day, give a shoutout to Droid folks....oh and this album is tight BUY IT!
Back to being a fan I have been a fan of Aesop since Labor Days. Then went back to buy Float and afterwards the Daylight EP. Bazooka Tooth and None Shall Pass were let downs for me. As i thought the production on those two was chaotic and at times abrasive to listen to. While its not quite Labor Days, its still an enjoyable album. Too many kids throw around the word "classic" nowadays. Lets not get too crazy here kids. Lets just call it a very solid and consistent album. Excellent work.
Aes is at his best with this album... I have been anticipating this album since he released Zero Dark Thirty on Soundcloud. This is a really great album whether you are a fan for over a decade or a newcomer to Aesop's distinctive style. This is worth the price of admission!
