Ghost Stories is the sixth studio album by British rock band Coldplay. Co-produced by the band with Paul Epworth along with returning Mylo Xyloto producers Daniel Green and Rik Simpson, it was released by Parlophone on 16 May 2014. The album was released by Atlantic Records in North America on 19 May 2014. It is the first album by the band in North America under Atlantic, after Coldplay were transferred from Capitol Records in 2013, following the purchase of EMI and its assets by the Universal Music Group in 2012.
The album was recorded by the band throughout 2013 and 2014 at the band's purpose-built home studios in London, England, and in Los Angeles. It features guest producers Avicii, Timbaland and Madeon, and the band's frequent collaborator Jon Hopkins. It was heavily promoted by the band and Parlophone in the lead-up to its release, with an accompanying prime time TV special, a visual album, and a special six-date promotional tour of the album, as well as various appearances on television and radio.

New and Captivating Songs constantly sound beautiful, many flowing into a mesmerizing beat. Some could use improvement, but whose met an album with all perfect songs on it? As for the change in the band's sound, no artist should be asked to do the same things forever. Does that make one era of their work inferior? No, just different and that's exciting. They should make new music to suit themselves, not you critics out there.

Impresses Coldplay has been one of my favorite bands since Parachutes. However, after X&Y I noticed a slight change in the way they did music. That is still present here, but I feel like there is influence from each of there previous albums. Overall it's a great album. "O" Always in my head and Sky Full of Stars are my favorites.

Enthralled Every song on this album brings forth another reason why your player is set to repeat the album. Coldplay's latest installment brings us to a more explicit relationship with the band. With ghost-like mylo xyloto ambience swirling around you, the picture ironiclly seems quite clear but as the album goes you begin to see its huge perspective. When always in my head seeps in you feel a feeling you dont normally want to return to but, you never leave. Like a darkness or afterlife with the magic of coldplay.

Love it! Coldplay is one of the best alternative bands I have ever heard. This new album add a different taste to what they usually play, after reading many review I thought it was gonna Suck... But once it was out I realized that this album is great!.. It's filled with emotions and really gets to you... Not my favorite album, but definitely up there!!

Uniquely Beautiful This album was awesome. When I first heard "Magic," I was a little worried that the album was going to head in a more poppy, cheesy direction. But I was pleasantly surprised to listen and discover that it went the other way - to a haunting, poetic, mellow, melancholic style, with hope interlaced throughout the lyrics. This is different than their other albums, for sure, but not in a bad way at all. All bands change and evolve over time, because if they didn't, listeners would get bored. I recommend Target.

Get the 3 BONUS tracks! The band released a Deluxe Ghost Stories album with 3 addl songs not included in this version here. That deluxe album can only be purchased inside a certain major dept store...not sure if the name is allowed...so I'll just say they use a bullseye as their logo. The very best song is inculded as an extra track on that deluxe album and it is called "Ghost Story". Did u ever wonder why this album was called GS, but there wasn't a song on it with that name? Well, now u know where it's at. 5 stars for that song.

A great album, with hopefully more to come I'll admit it. Mylo Xyloto wasn't nearly as interesting as their previous albums. Coldplay really hit the target with Viva La Vida, and I listened the hell out of that album. Also, for the record, I grew up on Coldplay, and particularly love their previous albums. Mylo Xyloto was definitely intriguing, but it wasn't Coldplay. It was as if it was attempting to appeal to a different crowd. However, Ghost Stories is awesome! Not nearly as sad as the other albums, which is good, but great songs involved. Get it

It's Coldplay, no brainer He removes the vinyl from its sleeve, he smells the record, he listens to it. He lays back in his big armchair and says, oh yeah, it's good. I wish I could have that experience! If you're wondering about the album, it's wonderful and the music itself is kind of dreamy :) cheers.

Free or a pass People will always debate "old" versus "new" band. While I agree bands have to be willing to change over time, listeners compare the most recent album against what they like. Not a huge Coldplay fan, they do have songs I like. This album, however, is much slower than I generally like. But I heard Sky Full of Stars in a New Year's Eve performance, and it stuck with me. So I'll take the whole album for free to get that song. And given time, we'll see if any of the other songs get better with time and plays.

I really can't explain more than it, just listen to it for one time and I'm sure you will love it... I Love This Magical Album, I Love You Coldplay♥

Fantastic album! I am a huge Coldplay fan and I completely disagree with the critics three star ratings! Coldplay is evolving and I am in love with this new album! Anyone who has had there heart broken can feel the pain behind Chris Martin's lyrics. I truly feel like I'm on a musical journey and I can't listen to it enough! My favorite album this year...fantastic!

A new classic Everytime a band comes out with a new album everyone says that "it's not them" or "they're selling out" but if you ask me if they didn't change their sound it would eventually become boring, bands evolve and change. They grow and the music grows with them. Of course the music isn't gonna be exactly the same because they aren't the same people. When Coldplay came out with MX everyone said it wasn't them but you have to let it grow on you. Ghost stories is soon to be a classic.

A mixed bag I enjoyed some of the content, but this is definitely not their best work. If you've enjoyed songs like "The Hardest Part" and "A Message" from their past albums, then give a few of these a shot - namely, "O", "Ink", and "True Love". However, if you're hoping for another "Fix You" or "Viva la Vida"...move on. "Midnight" and "Magic" are not even worth listening to, if you ask me.

Coldplay. Again. A Sky Full of Stars sounds utterly misplaced though. What in 2009-2010 made me eventually become a Coldplayer was the knowledge nobody else in the world could create such mindblowing songs but Coldplay. It never happened to me not to feel the need to skip one single song in a album till I decided to discover Coldplay. Then it was MX era. A disaster. With GS the band seems to be back to what they only are capable of. Pure originality. Incredible atmosphere.

Pleasantly surprised. I've not listened to Coldplay much at all in recent years, in fact X&Y was probably the last time I paid attention to them, 2005! Stumbled upon their recent single Magic on YouTube and I'm soon snapping up the album in its entirety. The more listens I give it the more gems I'm uncovering. Between the charming music videos and the pleasing melodies, it's a very recommendable album.

Coldplay are evolving Despite some people slating this latest offering, I find it pleasing to the ear. Still has the distinctive Coldplay sound. The only thing stopping me giving it a full 5 stars is the use of a tinny drum machine in places instead of real drums (track 2: Magic, for example).

Intimate truths After seeing the special broadcast of the first cinematic film of Coldplay's Ghost Stories on TV, I was blown away and taken along the journey. While it first struck out as a heartbreak album, listening to the songs in sequence showed that embracing the journey as you endure and enjoy the moments of loving, losing such is the cycles of life. Brilliant album, looking forward to get the deluxe edition.

Different but great I am a real fan of Coldplay. This album is definitely different from some of their previous material. I honestly was not impressed at first. After a few listens, however, it really grows on you and you start to really appreciate each track. I especially enjoy "O" which sounds like their single "Atlas".

Melancholy at its best This is my first official complete purchase of a Coldplay album. I fell in love with each and every tune, each one having a great transition of the story that it is being told of love and heartbreak. For me it will be the least forgettable album by them and the best to touch your inner self and feel true love or true hurt.

Fantastic stories indeed! I know many have knocked this album for a number of reasons, but perhaps if you listen to it with an open mind you will hear the stories. For me, I can hear and feel the heartbreak being expressed. The fall of the marriage, as well as the recognition that work needs to be done in one's own life is very clear. The album starts on a high note, descends into a dark place and comes back up to the realizations that it's not impossible to work to become a better person. Spectacular from start to finish!

So, I've never really listened to Coldplay other than I few songs here and there, so I can't compare these songs to other albums of theirs, like a lot of people are doing it seems. But I like it! This is haunting The concept of this album was to tell of a relationship from start to finish. The lyrics are haunting and thought-provoking. Overall, Coldplay has been straying from its roots in recent years with Mylo Xyloto probably being the furthest away from the band's original sound. Personally, people would be moaning if they stayed the same as they would be boring or if they changed because 'it's not them'. Just remember that it is them as long as Chris Martin and his pals are singing the song.

Different but good This is different from what everyone says coldplay really is. I disagree because coldplay is Chris's, Guy's, Johnny's and will's band. Not yours. I really don't think that the 'fans' can determine what coldplay's sound is. I enjoy this album and respect that they are changing up their sound.

Euphoric synths & hooks, heartbroken meaningful lyrics, and urban beats. A wonderfully cohesive unit! I will say A Sky Full Of Stars needed to be in here because every album needs an exiting high point with joy. Coldplay shows again why they're one of the best bands in the world. Very talented musicians. Overall the album is pointing in a new direction. The music is by far their best work to date. It feels totally natrual to listen to, and the music doesn't feel contrived or forced, but rather inspired and reserved. Its just a great album. Respect to the band members for keeping their heads screwed on straight. Coldplay will still be here hopefully in the next decade.

Midnight worried me, but it's not SUPPOSED to have the energetic feeling we're all used to. This is an album you can listen to after both love and heartbreak. By far, ASFOS, Ink, and True Love are the best. Gotta say, wasn't expecting this beautiful album. But hats off to Chris, Jonny, Guy, and Will. What an album.

Not their best! This offering from Coldplay is a bit of a disappointment really. Apart from the two standout songs "Magic" and "A Sky Full Of Stars", the rest drone in on the same vein for the remainder of the album. Nothing is truly awful (although "Midnight" comes close) but it's just mundane. After the driving power of Mylo Xyloto this has been a real anticlimax.

A Head Full of Dreams is the seventh studio album by the British rock band Coldplay. It was released on 4 December 2015, by Parlophone in the United Kingdom, and by Atlantic Records in the United States. Coldplay recorded the album from late 2014 to mid 2015, right after the completion of their previous album Ghost Stories, with a markedly different style and sound from its predecessors. For various songs, Coldplay collaborated with Beyoncé, Noel Gallagher, Tove Lo, Khatia Buniatishvili and Merry Clayton. The album was produced by Rik Simpson and Stargate. The album also features a sample of President Barack Obama singing "Amazing Grace" at Clementa C. Pinckney's funeral on the song "Kaleidoscope".
The album received mixed reviews from critics. Commercially, it topped the UK Albums Chart, and peaked at number two in the United States, Australia, Canada, and Italy where it was held off the top spot by Adele's 25. At the 2016 Brit Awards the album was nominated for British Album of the Year. It was the eighth-best-selling album of 2015 with 1.9 million copies sold worldwide, according to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry.

Mylo Xyloto is the fifth studio album by British rock band Coldplay. It was first released on 19 October 2011, by EMI Music Japan, and in other countries beginning on 21 October by Parlophone; it was later released on 25 October in the United States, by Capitol Records. The band collaborated closely with acclaimed producer Brian Eno following their successful collaborations on Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, the band's fourth studio album.
Mylo Xyloto is a concept album and a thematic rock opera. The album tells the story of a war against sound and colour by a supremacist government, set in the world of Silencia, an Orwellian society. Silencia has been overtaken by a government led by Major Minus, who controls the population through media and propaganda. His aim is to take sound and colour off the streets in hope to draw away "feeders", creatures that use such energy to hunt its prey. The album follows Mylo, a "silencer", a soldier in an army tasked to hunt and track down "sparkers", people who harness light and energy and use it to create sparks, comparable to graffiti in real life. He encounters Xyloto, the sparker most wanted by Major Minus.

Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, often referred to as simply Viva la Vida, is the fourth studio album by British rock band Coldplay, released on 12 June 2008 on Parlophone. The album was named after a Spanish phrase that translates in English as "Live the life", although it can also be taken as "Long live life". Lyrically, the album contains references to love, life, death, and war.
Recording sessions for the album took place during June 2007 to April 2008 and featured production by Jon Hopkins, Rik Simpson, Markus Dravs, and Brian Eno. The album was their first to be produced by Eno, and also their first album to not be produced by long-time Coldplay producer, Ken Nelson. The band forced themselves to explore experimental styles, as Eno required every song on the album to sound different, and expanded their musical interests while recording Viva la Vida. The band wanted to make the album shorter than 42 minutes. Despite this, the album is longer than the length they intended. Development of the album delayed the release date several times. The album cover of Viva la Vida is the painting Liberty Leading the People by Eugène Delacroix.

X&Y is the third studio album by the British rock band Coldplay. It was released on 6 June 2005 by Parlophone in the United Kingdom, and a day later by Capitol Records in the United States. The album was produced by Coldplay and producer Danton Supple. It is noted for its troubled and urgent development, with producer Ken Nelson having originally been tasked with producing much of the album; however, many songs written during his sessions were discarded owing to the band's dissatisfaction with them. The album's cover art is a combination of colours and blocks, which is a representation of the Baudot code.
The album contains twelve tracks and an additional hidden track, "'Til Kingdom Come". It is omitted from the track listing on the album sleeve, but listed as "+" on the disc label and inside the album booklet. It was originally planned for American country star Johnny Cash to record it with lead singer Chris Martin, but Cash died before he was able to do so. The song "Talk" appeared in the track listing, although after it leaked online in early 2005 it was thought to have been downgraded to a B-side for the album's subsequent single releases.

A Rush of Blood to the Head is the second studio album by the British rock band Coldplay. It was released on 26 August 2002 by Parlophone in the United Kingdom, and a day later by Capitol Records in the United States. The album was produced by the band and producer Ken Nelson. Recording started after the band became popular worldwide with the release of their debut album Parachutes, and one of its singles in particular, "Yellow". The album makes greater use of electric guitar and piano than its predecessor.
The album was made available in August 2002, two months after its original planned release date. The album topped the UK Albums Chart upon its first week of release in the United Kingdom, and became the eighth biggest-selling album of the 21st century in the UK. The British Phonographic Industry has since certified the album 9× Platinum for its accumulated sales of over 2.9 million units in the UK and the album has sold 12 million copies worldwide. The album spawned the hit singles "In My Place", "The Scientist", and "Clocks". "God Put A Smile Upon Your Face" was also released, but was significantly less successful.
