Foregrow is the seventh EP release by American musician John Frusciante. It was released for Record Store Day on April 16, 2016 by Acid Test.
The EP is a compilation put together by Acid Test records gathering four of John's recordings during his initial songwriting period with his more experimental, electronic music which directly followed his work for the Trickfinger record. These tracks were also conceived around the same time of his recordings with Speed Dealer Moms, and even feature a modular synthesizer developed for John by his bandmate Chris McDonald. His free download album Renoise Tracks 2009-2011 available on his SoundCloud/Bandcamp pages was recorded during this time period as well.
Bob and the Monster OST
Helen Burns is a six-song EP by Flea, bassist from Red Hot Chili Peppers, which was released July 19, 2012 at a "name your own price" policy through the Silverlake Conservatory of Music website. The EP was also released to all major digital download outlets on August 9, 2012. The EP marks the first solo release by Flea who has previously only released solo work on soundtracks. The EP is almost all instrumental except for an appearance by Patti Smith on the title track and a choir on the final track.
Additionally, there was a limited edition 180-gram vinyl that Flea personally signed and also includes an actual piece of a bass string that Flea used while touring. Only 900 copies were available. The vinyl can also be ordered on the Silverlake Conservatory website. Regular vinyl and CD release followed in February 2013.
Automatic Writing is the debut studio album by American experimental rock band Ataxia, released on August 10, 2004 on Record Collection. Ataxia consisted of then-Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante, Joe Lally of Fugazi, and Josh Klinghoffer, Frusciante's subsequent successor in the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
The band recorded 10 songs, approximately 80 minutes of content, over a two-week period, and played two live shows in a matter of four days. A second album, entitled AW II, was released on May 29, 2007 with the remaining five tracks recorded during this session.
The vinyl edition of the record saw a repressing from Record Collection on December 11, 2012. These reissued records are 180 gram and come with a download of choice between MP3 and WAV formats of the album.
Regarding this release, Frusciante noted, "If you like me cause you saw me live, and I was beating the fuck out of my guitar, then this record - which is a collaboration with Josh Klinghoffer and Joe Lally - will give you what you're looking for. If you don't care about song structure, and you want powerful music with fucked-up guitar-playing and songs that are really long, this record is the one."
Blind Worms, Pious Swine
Blind Worms, Pious Swine is the twenty-ninth studio album by Omar Rodríguez-López as a solo artist, released on 12 August 2016. It is his third release in the 12 album series initiated by Ipecac Recordings.
According to Rodriguez-Lopez, Blind Worms was one of his last solo records before forming Bosnian Rainbows, and the first to be recorded in El Paso after moving back from Mexico.
The fourth track, "Lights", is a cover of the 2010 song by Ellie Goulding, and the first ever cover to appear on a Rodriguez-Lopez album. The album closes with the final four tracks forming one 11-minute instrumental piece all together.
"Vanishing Tide" was uploaded in advance as the album's single.
