Be the Void
Dr. Dog have always been adorable, one of those bands who make your face hurt from smiling wide when you see them live. This isn't because they're funny, but simply because their songs are impossible not to sing and sway along to, with the band members clearly having a blast as they play them. On their sixth proper album, they do their best job yet of translating that infectious joy to disc, of convincing those who haven't had the privilege of attending a show that these mad swirls of symphonic pop, with hints here and there of T. Rex or the Beach Boys or random one-hit wonders from 1970s A.M. radio, are actually being played by just five or six scruffy dudes. The melodies remain deceptively simple, the arrangements creative without calling undue attention to themselves, the harmonies raggedly glorious—but for once nothing sounds forced or over-thought. Bass parts lope perfectly beneath lyrics that might mean nothing but seem to mean everything; whether bassist Toby Leaman's howling out his angst about a thoughtless lover or guitarist Scott McMicken's chirping about his tiny place in the cosmos, the overriding feeling is one of bliss. As good as this record is, Dr. Dog never come off as crazily gifted geniuses, just friendly guys with astonishingly good ears and an ability to read one another's minds. Each song is every bit as enjoyable as the one before it, so rather than direct your attention to just one or two, we recommend you drop the virtual needle at the beginning, let it play to the end, then repeat.

We All Belong
We All Belong is the fourth album by Dr. Dog. It was released on February 27, 2007. The album finds the band adding more to their typical indie-rock sound, including a wider variety of instruments and psychedelic group harmony. The entire record, as well as the preceding Takers and Leavers EP, was recorded on 24-track tape. This album was number 39 on Rolling Stone's list of the Top 50 Albums of 2007. The song "Old News" was number 40 on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Best Songs of 2007. The album was twice sampled by rapper Chiddy Bang, "Ain't It Strange" on "Grab a Plate" and "My Old Ways" by The Preview's "Old Ways".
Takers and Leavers
Takers and Leavers is an EP by Dr. Dog. It was released a year before their LP, We All Belong, which re-released "Ain't It Strange" and "Die Die Die".
The first 1000 copies had custom covers, which featured various images and assortments of random art. The standard EP was produced later that month.
