The vinyl was limited to 3000 copies, and was released in three different "flavors," with "strawberry", "vanilla", and "chocolate" colored records. Barcelona-based directorial collective CANADA produced a video for the single. It includes the B-side "Black Sundome" and an instrumental version of "Ice Cream". The second single released was for "My Machines", featuring Gary Numan, which came in digital and vinyl formats with an instrumental version of the song and an unreleased track titled "A.M. Gestalt".
From February to April 2012, a series of four 12" vinyl EPs were issued, titled Dross Glop 1 through 4, featuring remixes of all the songs on Gloss Drop by various artists. A compilation featuring the 11 remixes was released on April 16, 2012.

The song "All My Heroes Are Weirdos" is available in the video games Tony Hawk's Proving Ground and FIFA 08. "Yadnus" would be heard in an episode of The Blacklist. In addition, the Still Going to the Roadhouse mix of "Yadnus" appears on the Radio Broker radio station in Grand Theft Auto IV. The album art was created by artist Kevin Hooyman, a friend of the band. The song "Must Be the Moon" was featured in a 2010 Cartoon Network bumper.

The Milk of Human Kindness
The Milk of Human Kindness is the third studio album by Canadian musician Dan Snaith, released under the moniker Caribou on April 19, 2005 by The Leaf Label and Domino Recording Company. It is Snaith's first album credited under Caribou, with Snaith having dropped his previous moniker Manitoba following the release of Up in Flames in 2003 due to a threatened lawsuit by Handsome Dick Manitoba of The Dictators.
While the title is a quote from William Shakespeare's play Macbeth, Snaith has been quoted as saying that he read it off the back of a milk truck. The album received critical acclaim.
In 2009, Seattle emcee producer Ryan Lewis sampled the song "Subotnik" for "Vipassana," the first track on their critically acclaimed project, The VS. EP.
