Sea Of Cowards
The Dead Weather
Sea of Cowards is the second studio album by the American alternative rock band The Dead Weather. It was first released on May 7 in Ireland, then on May 11, 2010, in the U.S. and May 10 in the United Kingdom.
The album was streamed on the band's website, via continuous vinyl playback, for a period of 24 hours from April 30 to May 1. It was subsequently available for streaming on various media streaming websites such as National Public Radio and KCRW. This album was number 11 on Rolling Stone's list of the 30 Best Albums of 2010.
The White Stripes
Consolers of the Lonely
Consolers of the Lonely is the second album by American rock band The Raconteurs. It was released on March 25, 2008 on Warner Bros. Records in most parts of the world, and a day earlier on XL Recordings in the UK.
The band did no promotion before the album's release, and its existence was only confirmed a week before. Even so, the record was accidentally leaked by iTunes, and some fans managed to purchase the album early. It is available on CD, vinyl, and MP3. A video for the first single from the album, "Salute Your Solution" was released on the same day. The album earned a nomination for Best Rock Album at the 51st Grammy Awards.
The Black Keys
Chulahoma: The Songs of Junior Kimbrough is an EP by American rock duo The Black Keys. Essentially a tribute album, it is a collection of the band's cover versions of songs by Fat Possum Records bluesman Junior Kimbrough, who died in 1998. The title is a Choctaw word for red fox and is a reference to Chulahoma, Mississippi, location of "Junior's Place", a juke joint bought by Kimbrough around 1992 and operated after his death by his sons until it burned down on April 6, 2000
The Black Keys have covered Kimbrough in their 2002 debut album, with "Do the Rump", and with "Everywhere I Go" on their second record Thickfreakness. In 2005, they contributed a "My Mind is Ramblin'" cover to the Sunday Nights: The Songs of Junior Kimbrough tribute compilation, which also features Iggy Pop & The Stooges and Spiritualized. Chulahoma was recorded in the basement of 54 Metlin Rd. in Akron, Ohio, and was the band's last record with Fat Possum Records, as they subsequently signed to Nonesuch Records.
The CD of the album includes a letter from Auerbach in which he describes his first encounter with Kimbrough's music and how it inspired him to drop out of college and become a musician.
Keep It Hid
Keep It Hid is the debut solo album by the American blues-rock musician Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys, released in 2009 on Nonesuch Records. The final track "Goin' Home" was included in the soundtrack of the 2009 film Up in the Air.
Band of Skulls
Sweet Sour is the second album by English rock band Band of Skulls. It was released on 20 February 2012 in England and 21 February 2012 in the United States.
Ian Davenport returned to produce the album after working with the band on their debut. The album was recorded at Rockfield Studios in Wales.
Jack White Albums
Boarding House Reach
Boarding House Reach is the third studio album by American rock musician Jack White, released on March 23, 2018 through Third Man Records, Columbia Records, and XL Recordings. It is his first solo studio album in nearly four years, following Lazaretto.
After recording independently in Nashville, the album was also recorded throughout 2017 in New York City and Los Angeles. "Connected by Love" was released as the album's lead single on January 10. "Over and Over and Over", and "Ice Station Zebra" were also released as singles afterward.
Boarding House Reach received generally positive reviews, with its unorthodox production and style noted as a departure from White's previous studio albums and projects. While critics mainly praised the album for its ambition, experimentalism and artistic approach, its criticisms mainly focused on its inconsistency and production. The album performed well commercially, topping the US Billboard 200 upon release, making it White's third number-one album on that chart. Elsewhere, it was a number-one album in Canada and reached number five in Scotland, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
Lazaretto is the second studio album by Jack White. It was released on June 10, 2014, through White's own label Third Man Records in association with XL Recordings and Columbia Records. The limited-edition "Ultra" LP features hidden songs, secret grooves and holograms that materialize when the record is being played. Lazaretto was partly inspired by a collection of short stories, poems, and plays White wrote when he was 19 years old and rediscovered years later in his attic. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, selling 138,000 copies in its first week.
Blunderbuss is the debut solo album by Jack White. It was released through digital download on April 20, 2012 and in compact disc and vinyl editions on April 23 through White's own label Third Man Records, in association with XL Recordings and Columbia Records. Written almost entirely by White, the album was recorded and produced by White in Nashville, Tennessee in 2011. Various musical styles appear throughout the album, including blues, rock, folk, and country soul.
The album received positive reviews from critics, holding a score of 83 out of 100 on review aggregator site Metacritic. It debuted at number one in five countries and debuted in the top ten in 10 other countries. It was certified diamond by the Independent Music Companies Association; platinum by Music Canada; and gold by the British Phonographic Industry, the Australian Recording Industry Association, and the Recording Industry Association of America. Blunderbuss was nominated for Album of the Year and Best Rock Album at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards, while the single "Freedom at 21" was nominated for Best Rock Song.
