Sail Out
Jhené Aiko
Sail Out is the debut extended play by American recording artist Jhené Aiko, released on November 12, 2013, through Def Jam Recordings. It will be Aiko's first release under the label after leaving her contract with Sony Records in 2003. After leaving Sony Records, Aiko released her first mixtape Sailing Soul, independently; the mixtape featured appearances from well-known artists and was met with generally positive reviews and was nominated for Best Urban Contemporary Album at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards.
. In 2012, Aiko met with American record producer and vice president of A&R at Def Jam No I.D., who ended up signing Aiko to his Artium Records imprint, through Def Jam.
The writing, recording and producing of the EP began shortly after Aiko was signed to Def Jam in 2012. Most of the album was written by Aiko herself and features production from No I.D. and Fisticuffs, the latter of whom is responsible for producing the majority of Aiko's debut mixtape Sailing Soul. The album features guest appearances from several rappers, such as Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul, Childish Gambino and Vince Staples.

Kaleidoscope Dream
Miguel
Kaleidoscope Dream is the second studio album by American R&B singer and songwriter Miguel. It was released on September 25, 2012, by RCA Records.
After the commercial breakthrough of his debut album All I Want Is You, Miguel wanted to play a larger creative role in his music, leading him to principally produce and write Kaleidoscope Dream. He recorded most of the album at Platinum Sound Recording Studios in New York City and MJP Studios in Los Angeles, working with producers Oak Felder, Jerry "Wonda" Duplessis, and Salaam Remi, among others.
The album's music draws on R&B, pop, funk, rock and soul styles, as well as elements from electronic and psychedelic music. The producers incorporated dense bass lines, buzzing synthesizers, and hazy, reverbed sounds in the songs, which deal mostly with sex, romance, and existential ideas. Miguel titled Kaleidoscope Dream as a metaphor for life and wanted the songs to reflect his lifestyle and personality.
Before Kaleidoscope Dream was released, Miguel previewed its songs virally through a series of free EPs.

SweetSexySavage (Deluxe)
Kehlani
SweetSexySavage is the debut studio album by American singer and songwriter Kehlani. The album was released on January 27, 2017 by Atlantic Records. Kehlani started work on the album shortly after the release of her mixtape You Should Be Here, with work proceeding into 2016. Kehlani was the lead writer on all tracks aside from "Intro", which was written by Reyna Biddy. Production on the project was handled by Pop & Oak, Jahaan Sweet, Charlie Heat, among others, who worked to incorporate a variety of different sounds on the album.
The album received mainly positive reviews from critics, generating a Metacritic score of 76, which ranks as Kehlani's third-highest score after her mixtape You Should Be Here from 2015, and before her mixtape While We Wait from 2019. Ctrl
SZA
Ctrl is the debut studio album by American singer-songwriter SZA. It was released on June 9, 2017, on Top Dawg Entertainment/RCA Records. Originally scheduled for release in late 2015, it was delayed by SZA's experience of "a kind of blinding paralysis brought on by anxiety." She worked and reworked the album until the record company took away her hard drive in the spring of 2017.
SZA wrote most of the album's lyrics and collaborated with producers including Craig Balmoris, Frank Dukes, Carter Lang, Scum and ThankGod4Cody to achieve its sound. The efforts resulted in a primarily neo-soul and R&B album, with elements of hip-hop, electronic, indie and soul. Lyrically the album has a confessional theme, which touch upon SZA's personal experiences and complexities of modern love; including desire, competition, jealousy, sexual politics, social media, and low self-esteem.
The album was released to acclaim from music critics. It debuted at number three on the US Billboard 200, moving 60,000 equivalent-album units in its first full-tracking week. It generated the singles "Drew Barrymore", "Love Galore", "The Weekend", and "Broken Clocks".
