Good leading single I will admit that upon first listening to the song I was disappointed with Kendrick's new single. During subsequent a subsequent listen-through, however, it grew on me. While it is certainly nothing like anything from good kid, m.a.a.d city (other than perhaps real), it still proves Kendrick's lyrical superiority. Also it has a rather catchy hook. Although it did not meet my expectations of a song that I could bang at parties, I am still rather pleased with it.
Not gonna lie, it ain't really what I expected from him, but the lyrics are on point, the beat's dope, and the nigga's sending a good message. Truthfully, I don't see how this dude can stop, he constantly reinvents himself, and I respect that. The song's not one to really play at a party/club, but why should every song be like that? That's not what hip-hop is about. I think it's a new move and I'm pretty sure the dude's got some pretty big surprises in his new project. Just waiting on the release date for his sophomore album.
Interesting I feel really mixed about this song. I can't bash Kendrick for this song just cause its not my style, but its just so off key from what ANYONE expected. I'm glad Kendrick is spreading positivity in a world, and especially in a genre where everything is negatively charged. I respect him for what he did, but this won't be playing on my phone.
People think just because he's not cussing every other word, that it's not a good song. This song could've saved someone's life just by them seeing a man like Kendrick rising from a dark place into a positive place . I absolutely love the song not because I'm riding him , but because it gives me hope
It's different but in a good way Unlike most rappers today, Kendrick can change his style constantly and and still make it work. I say this because of him going from rapping "m.a.a.d city" to Now or never in the "good kid m.a.a.d. city" album.
Why he loves himself. I don't know why but on soundcloud he released a song that was slightly longer than this with a speaker preaching about something along the lines of "We'll learn how to love one another. But you can't do that before loving yourself" I honestly would have hated this song had I have not listen to the lyrics. IDK I just wish I wasn't so quick to hate this song before sitting down and listening to the lyrics. I just hope others didn't do what I did.
