If Beyond the Pale is any indicator of what this album is going to sound like, it seems as though Machine Head is turning back to their roots a bit. Not bad by any means. The song is awesome.
A well regulated militia being necessary for the security of a free state the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. this makes me a thug
The way Robb described this record made me feel they were practically making it for me as he said it is gonna be a more groovy and melodic record which makes me very excited for it, aside from the fact that it is a Machine Head record, and after hearing "Beyond the Pale" I can officially say that January 26, 2018 can't come fast enough! I pre-ordered two copies of the CD and I'm gonna buy it digitally as well so I think that in itself explains my excitement for this record!
Total honesty, I like the previous three albums better than catharsis. However, I appreciate a little experimentation and this release offers some interesting departures from what may have been a formula. There will be days when I wake up in the morning humming songs from unto the locust. Catharsis might not create that same effect but a couple of songs stand out for glaringly obvious reasons. The blackening was an angry album. Catharsis is flailing furious Uber rage. If your politics determines your musical taste, then you will either love or hate this. And that's actually kind of the point. I was anticipating this for several weeks. The pre release singles are my favorites, but there are still more gems apart from those. My opinion of machine head starts at five stars and I found no reason to take stars away.
Looking forward to hearing this soon. Bastards is still growing on me but Kaleidoscope is pretty damn good.
I haven't listened to the full album but if this makes "2nd Amendment thugs" butthurt. Then I'm all for it. You guys are so sensitive.
