Systemisch is a 1994 album by the German glitch group Oval. It was released in 1994 by Mille Plateaux.
Breaking away from the instrumental format of previous work, the album used sound taken from deliberately damaged CDs to combine an experimental glitch aesthetic with an accessible pop sensibility. This new approach gave Oval their first major critical attention. In its development of the glitch aesthetic in electronic music, Systemisch influenced the sound of artists such as Autechre and Björk, who sampled the track Aero Deck in the song "Unison", from the album Vespertine.
Plastic Anniversary is a 2019 experimental album by Matmos whose sounds originate from plastic objects. It was released on March 15, 2019.
The Marriage of True Minds
The Rose Has Teeth In The Mouth Of A Beast
The Rose Has Teeth in the Mouth of a Beast is the sixth studio album by Matmos. Each of the album's songs is dedicated to a notable gay or lesbian person who has influenced the duo, and this influence is reflected in the songs themselves. For examples, "Rag for William S. Burroughs" features the clatter of a type writer and a gunshot, representing the William Tell incident, and "Tract for Valerie Solanas" contains excerpts from the "SCUM Manifesto".
As with earlier releases, the duo make use of field recordings in the music, recordings that range from ordinary things to more absurd sounds, such as a recording of a bovine uterus. The album's title is taken from a line in Ludwig Wittgenstein’s Philosophical Investigations.
The Civil War
The Civil War is a 2003 studio album by experimental duo Matmos, released via Matador Records. It explores the boundaries between Americana, Medieval folk music and electronica. It features many live instruments such as drums, brass and guitars. A hurdy-gurdy is also sampled. There is also a satirical take on "Stars and Stripes Forever."
A Chance To Cut Is A Chance To Cure
A Chance to Cut Is a Chance to Cure is the fourth studio album by American electronic music duo Matmos, released in 2001. The album consists primarily of samples of medical procedures, including plastic surgeries, liposuctions, hearing tests and bonesaws. The album maintains a sense of humour in contrast with the serious nature of the audio being sampled. The exception to the medical samples is the song "For Felix", a piece dedicated to their deceased pet rat Felix, performed entirely on his cage.
The two members of Matmos, Drew Daniel and Martin Schmidt, both had doctors as parents, a fact that likely influenced them in the album's creation. The album is sometimes considered a concept album within the glitch or musique concrète genre.
Matmos is the 1997 debut album of American electronic music duo Matmos. The album features field recordings of everyday activities as well as more unusual things, such as nerve activity of a crayfish, on "Verber: amplified synapse".
The album is of an experimental nature and has elements of different genres of electronic music such as drum 'n bass, minimal techno and glitch.
