Unfortunately, it falls far short of the death card, and short of TLTD. A lack of riff and rhythm make for very disjointed tracks with disappointing break downs and boring choruses that don't compliment the song. There seems to be too.much emphasis on cleans, as it doesn't go in half the songs and sounds whiney. Lyrically, some of it is well written, some is an absolute litany of angst and immaturity... It's a shame, because I have loved a lot of their previous work, and although there is some good in this album, in its entirety I find it very sub par. In short, if they spent more time focusing on the music and less time on making it "edgy", this would have been a fan better album.
I have really been enjoying the artistic direction that Sworn In took with this album! The attention to detail is great and the way it has a cohesive flow to it makes it stand out compared to their previous releases. Their decision to handle all of the artwork and visual aspects of the album in addition to the music paid off; this album is their most definitive, unique work to date. My personal favorite songs are "HELLUPUTMETHRU" and "The Smiling Knife"! This album is definitely worth listening to and purchasing. I'm excited to attend some shows where they perform these songs live too!
