Blimey you lot at the top of the page are a bit harsh. I think it's great. It's always good and refreshing to hear something new and why shouldn't these bands try something new. 'Play That Song' makes me smile and reminds me playing that familiar melody on the piano as a kid. Come on, we all played it.
I'm a Train fan from way back. I love these guys, but this is...I'll stop short of saying awful, out of respect. Despite the melody in "Play That Song", this album has no heart and no soul, and no Jimmy, so it's no good. It's just straight up fluffy pop, and that's not my jam. Taylor Swift writes better lyrics of late. Perhaps the new sound will bring them a new generation of fans.
Some of the reviews by my fellow fans have been very critical of this album and while it is true that there is something missing this time around i personally couldn't put my finger on it, It feels more pop orientated then previous albums, only has maybe 2 songs i actually like and is missing the soul from the old days. I will always be a Train fan and will stick by them but this is a little disappointing
I truly seems like this Train is about to derail. There's just no substance here, nothing we haven't heard before and shoddy songwriting. I hate to be so critical but in this day and age somebody has to say it like it is!
I just gotta say I love it. Not a typical Train album but that's what I love most about them. They are not afraid to try something new!! Definitely another fave of mine! Can't wait to hear the next one!!
Silver Dollar and Play That Song were the only two I could even remotely get into. Not impressed with this album
