Colonia is the second studio album by A Camp, the collaborative side project between The Cardigans vocalist Nina Persson, her husband, composer Nathan Larson and former Atomic Swing guitarist Niclas Frisk. The album was released on 28 January 2009 in Scandinavia by Universal and in the U.K. and Mainland Europe by independent British label Reveal Records on 2 February and 20 March respectively, while in the United States the album was released through Nettwerk on 28 April 2009.
"Stronger Than Jesus" was released as the first single from Colonia on 19 January 2009. In Sweden, the song spent eleven weeks on the Sverigetopplistan chart, eventually peaking at #8, making it their most successful single to date in the region. "Love Has Left The Room" was released as the second single in the U.K. and Ireland, while "My America" became the second Swedish single.
An EP of outtakes, Covers, was released in digital format on 9 June 2009 in support of the album.
Long Gone Before Daylight
Long Gone Before Daylight is the fifth studio album by Swedish rock band The Cardigans. Released in Japan on 19 March 2003 and in Europe from 24 March by Stockholm Records, it was their first studio album since the release of Gran Turismo in 1998, during which time band members released numerous solo works under assumed aliases: Peter Svensson issued Paus' sole, self-titled album in 1998. This was followed by the release of the self-titled record from Nina Persson's A Camp in 2001, and bassist Magnus Sveningsson's I Sing Because of You in 2002.
The album differs from much of the band's earlier work, eschewing the pop and electronic rock sound of previous material in favour of a sparser, alternative rock and country-influenced production. Its lyrical themes are also more mature, with subject matter inspired by domestic abuse, depression, love and fatalism. It received generally positive reviews from music critics upon release, with several reviewers commending it as the band's best album, while praising their compositional work and the change in musical direction.
Covers is an EP by Swedish alternative rock group A Camp, the side-project of The Cardigans vocalist Nina Persson. The three covers, recorded during the Colonia sessions along with another known but unreleased cover of "Prince Charming," was released exclusively through iTunes in the U.S. on 9 June 2009 before being made available at other digital retailers in the U.S. and throughout Europe one week later on 16 June 2009.
Two of the three tracks - "Boys Keep Swinging" and "Us and Them" - had previously been released in Europe as B-sides on the digital "Love Has Left The Room" single, which was also released in a physical format as a promo single. The remaining track, "I've Done It Again" was performed regularly on their European and U.S. tours in support of the album Colonia.
