Kids See Ghosts is the eponymous debut studio album by American hip hop duo Kids See Ghosts, composed of Kanye West and Kid Cudi. It was released on June 8, 2018, by GOOD Music and Def Jam Recordings. Prior to the album, West and Cudi enjoyed a strong relationship as close friends and musical allies since meeting in 2008, and expressed a desire to record a collaborative album. However, the album never materialized, and the duo instead experienced a brief falling out in 2013, and again in 2016, before reuniting a year later, where the album's first studio sessions began.
Kids See Ghosts incorporates several influences that has come to define the duo's sound, including psychedelic and progressive rock influences, unique samples, and dramatic melodies. It features a mixture of braggadocio and emotional lyrics, exploring themes of fame, mental health, perseverance, and redemption. The album also highlights other topics, such as West's outspoken political views and Cudi's professional relevance, as well as touching on prison reform and gang culture.
